The ProQual Level 2 Award in Managing Conflicts in the Workplace provides learners with the knowledge and understanding required to recognise, manage and resolve conflict within a workplace environment.
The qualification focuses on developing an understanding of the causes of workplace conflict, appropriate conflict resolution techniques, mediation, organisational factors and when additional support should be sought. It also considers how organisational culture, workplace structures, systems, procedures, roles and hierarchies can influence workplace interactions and contribute to conflict.
The ProQual Level 2 Award in Managing Conflicts in the Workplace is a nationally recognised qualification designed to develop learners’ knowledge and understanding of identifying, managing and resolving conflict in workplace environments.
This qualification is suitable for individuals across a range of sectors who need to understand workplace conflict and develop knowledge of effective conflict management and resolution strategies. It can be particularly relevant to employees, team members and individuals working in environments where effective workplace relationships and communication are important.
The qualification has a Total Qualification Time (TQT) of 120 hours, including 100 Guided Learning Hours (GLH), and carries 12 credits.
You will learn about the causes of workplace conflict, managing differences in expectations, conflict resolution techniques, mediation, when to seek additional support, and how organisational culture, structures, systems, procedures and hierarchies can influence conflict.
Yes. The qualification covers different conflict resolution techniques, how to apply them in different situations, how to agree resolution strategies without apportioning blame, and the principles and process of mediation.
Yes. As a knowledge-based qualification, it is suitable for distance or blended learning.
Learners must produce a portfolio of evidence demonstrating achievement of all the required learning outcomes and assessment criteria. Evidence can include written assignments, projects or reports, professional discussions, worksheets, questioning, witness testimony and other appropriate evidence.

The qualification is assessed on a Pass/Fail basis. You must successfully demonstrate the required knowledge against all learning outcomes and assessment criteria for the mandatory unit. Assessment is carried out and verified internally by centre staff, with external verification by ProQual external verifiers.

Assessment is based on evidence demonstrating the learner’s achievement of the required learning outcomes and assessment criteria. Evidence may include written assignments, projects or reports, professional discussions, worksheets, questioning, witness testimony, candidate products and Recognition of Prior Learning where appropriate.

- Candidates must demonstrate the level of knowledge described in the unit. Assessment is the process of measuring a candidate’s knowledge and understanding against the standards set in the qualification.
- Each candidate is required to produce evidence which demonstrates their achievement of all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit.
- Evidence can include:
– assignments/projects/reports
– worksheets
– portfolio of evidence
– course work - Learning outcomes set out what a candidate is expected to know, understand or be able to do.
- Assessment criteria specify the standard a candidate must meet to show the learning outcome has been achieved.
- To achieve this qualification all candidates must produce evidence which demonstrates their achievement of all of the assessment criteria.
