You will learn about the role of crime prevention in the community, how crime occurs and its impact on victims, security products used in crime prevention, physical security, relevant legislation, problem-solving methods and conducting basic site security surveys.

Will I learn how to prevent crime and anti-social behaviour?

Yes. The qualification covers methods and processes that may prevent and reduce opportunities for crime and anti-social behaviour. It also includes identifying suitable security products and making recommendations to improve site security.

Does the course cover security products?

Yes. You will learn how security products conforming to relevant British and European standards can support situational crime prevention. The qualification also covers physical security products used in the built environment.

How do I pass the qualification?

You must successfully demonstrate achievement of all assessment criteria for the mandatory unit. Your evidence must be valid, authentic and sufficient to meet the qualification requirements.

Candidates must demonstrate the level of knowledge described in the unit. Assessment is the process of measuring a candidate’s knowledge and understanding against the standards set in the qualification.
Each candidate is required to produce evidence which demonstrates their achievement of all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit.
Evidence can include:
– assignments/projects/reports
– worksheets
– portfolio of evidence
– course work
Learning outcomes set out what a candidate is expected to know, understand or be able to do.
Assessment criteria specify the standard a candidate must meet to show the learning outcome has been achieved.
To achieve this qualification all candidates must produce evidence which demonstrates their achievement of all of the assessment criteria.
